New Pieces

I am starting my new job this Wednesday and am really excited but will miss painting full time.

The first piece I am almost complete.  Just a little more work on the field.  The second piece that I post prior and is complete.  I just need to sign it and gloss it.

Both pieces are inspired by the storms we have experience here on the prairies and are both untitled.  If anyone has a suggestion on a title, please share.

The Year of Change

"Without change, something sleeps inside us, and never wakens."
D.L. Atrides

It has been awhile since I have posted.  I have great news as I have left my place of employment and starting a new adventure with a different employer on July 16th.  It has been a tough road this past last year but I am so glad that it is behind me.  I did work with some great individuals and I will truly miss them.  But at the end of the day I made a conscious decision to no longer work major overtime, to no longer want to put my work before my own life/family, and taking a stand on bullying in the workplace.

It was time to open a new chapter with a clean slate.

I am currently taking vacation as I put my notice in on Friday, June 13th.  My last day is officially this Wednesday, July 9th.  This time off has been spent painting and hanging with my friends and family.  I am loving this time.

For the first time in years I feel I am finally coming out of a dark and cloudy hays.  I am no longer feeling numb but feeling clear.

The art I have produced over these past couple of weeks has been my best so far.  Coming out of me much more freely with minimal thought.  I see the growth since I have started this journey last fall and am very proud of myself.  Art has helped me to find myself again and to give me the confidence I so desperately needed. Sometimes just saying...or thinking "I don't give a shit" is so liberating.

Please take the time to view my recent works, some finished....some not, which will be on sale at my up and coming solo exhibition which opens August 13th. to September 2 at Wasagaming Community Arts, Riding Mountain National Park, MB.

Once my pieces are completed, all work will be uploaded to my website.  Please refer to http://www.traceykucheravy.com/.

12"x18" acrylic on 3/4" canvas, titled "Beautiful Day on the Lake".
This painting was inspired by a day fishing and boating on Shoal Lake.

20"x40" acrylic on 1-3/4" canvas, titled "Back to the Earth".
This painting is inspired from this years flood experienced by cottagers in Manitoba and Ontario.

18"x18" acrylic on 3/4" canvas, currently not titled.
This is a middle panel of a total of 3 panels.
This painting is inspired by a photo of Rushing River in Ontario.  I am still working on this one as I am not quite happy with the water.

12"x18" acrylic on 3/4" canvas, currently not titled.
Love this painting but it is not complete. This painting was inspired by a road trip last fall to the Scotia Cemetery in Manitoba.
Most my attention will be spent on blocking the background and adding some color to the wheat.
Work in progress!
